Eyebrow Waxing

Monday, October 19, 2009 0 comments

However, if you have very sensitive skin, waxing is an alternative quick and relatively easy to pluck your eyebrows. Although it is generally best to get eyebrows waxed professionally it can be expensive - up to about $ 15, as a general rule, although salons do not vary. If you have a tighter budget, or if you feel relatively brave, here are some simple steps for you to try at home ...

1) the preparation of the eyebrows

Brush eyebrows in place with a child or a toothbrush, clean mascara wand, so that the natural form is precisely defined. Next, apply an astringent such as witch hazel to anesthetize the sensitive skin under the eyebrows. Work your natural brow shape by standing several feet away from the mirror, and follow these simple steps

Work outside the length of the brow

The Governor parallel to the nose, and level with the interior angle of the eye, to work on the forehead where it should start. If your eyes are close to each other, and make the gap between the brows wider. If your eyes are far apart, dont wax the start line so much that eyebrows are closer together. Mark the correct point with a point.

Work outside the curve Usher

You can work out where the highest point in the curve / arch should be by holding a ruler from the edge of the nose past the outer edge of the iris (the colored part of the eye) and up to the eyebrows. On the occasion of the case with the points.

The final planning

Now connect the dots to form a nice arc to rely on the ideal shape of the eyebrow that you want to achieve. This will give you a guideline to go by when you apply the wax. We must seek to establish a brow of the gradual decrease in smooth arched slightly at the ends of space.

2) Applying the Wax

Buy a professional waxing - basically a jar or a box of wax that can be warmed up in boiling water and applied with a bar or a small spoon, and (usually muslin) removal strips. Each product is slightly different, so be sure to read the manufacturers directions carefully.

Warm wax to optimum temperature and use a small spoon to apply a thin layer of wax for growth. Make sure that you can only use a small amount of wax on the carpet to avoid the wax dripping when it is applied. Apply wax with the hair growth under the eyebrow, (ie in the same direction as hair grows in). You do not need to use a lot, and must not be allowed to wax dry.

3) Hair Removal

This is a painful thing! Ouch!

Never wax over the eyebrow, only shape than ever below. Remove hair from under the eyebrows widen your eyes and help get the line up. This will make you look younger and more glamorous if done correctly! Once applied remove the wax against the hair growth, (ie in the opposite direction that the hair grows in). This is done by gently pave a piece of cotton muslin over the waxed area, pulling the skin taut with one hand, and pulling the gauze with the other.

It's a good idea to take a little hair at one time, especially if you have this growth to some extent. You will be surprised how much difference a little hair removal will make to your appearance.

4) and following the

Scatter any hair left over after waxing can be easily directed by using a set of good tweezers. The application of soothing ointment, such as tea tree oil on the area after that. You should avoid direct sunlight, and the acid treatment on the face, and make-up liquid for several hours.

To give a fantastic new eyebrow shape emphasis, use the eyebrow pencil or tinted brow shadow to subtly fill in any gaps, and even out on the degree of natural color. Do not worry if you make mistakes, and even if you have bald patches or empty spaces. Practice makes perfect, and in any case, the hair had grown back before you know it!

7 Basic Everyday Health Tips

“He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything.” -Arabian Prover

1. Move extra: Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Play with your kids; throw balls with friends, trim the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it’s a stress buster. Think ‘move’ in small increments of time. It doesn’t have to be an hour in the gym. But that’s great when you’re up to it. Meanwhile, move more.
2. Cut Fat: Avoid such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meals. Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise.
3. Give up Smoking: Smoking is harmful to your health.
4. Reduce Stress: Easier said than done, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your baby; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possibl
5. Protect Yourself from Pollution: If you can’t live in a smog-free environment, at least avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise indoors in air conditioning when air quality is good. It’s a good pollution and dirt from the street deterrent. 6. Floss Your Teeth: Recent studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it’s because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don’t? Thought for the day: Floss and be your body’s boss. 7. Keep a optimistic Mental point of view: There’s a definitive connection between living well and healthfully and having a cheerful outlook on life.

The Role Of Protein As A Fat Burner

Scientific studies have recently been conducted to verify the fact that if you eat more protein, especially during a lowered calorie diet, you will wind up losing less muscle tissue than those who don't. It should be pointed out here that the number one thing to remember when losing weight with any method, is to make sure you don't lose too much muscle mass. Muscles increase the metabolism greatly which means if we lose enough of it, our metabolism can drop sharply.
Muscles burn fat because they need calories for maintenance. So the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn daily. People who go on starvation diets lose large amounts of muscle tissue. When these people return to normal eating habits, their metabolism will actually work slower from the lost muscle mass. They will tend to put on even more weight than they initially lost from dieting and losing weight becomes even harder and frustrating.
Protein is a word that literally means "of prime importance". It is an essential nutrient that is used to build the body, especially the muscles. It's also used to build organs, hair, hormones, nails and many more body parts. The human body cannot operate or survive without adequate protein. People who tend to have issues with their weight were found to eat much less protein than needed. Your protein needs will be much higher if you regularly engange in exercise or are very mentally active.
Protein is such a useful tool for weight loss in many ways, one of them being for it's thermic value. Of all the food types, protein has the highest thermic value which means that it is the hardest to digest and uses up more calories in the process. Taking longer to digest, it will leave you feeling satisfied for a longer period of time. It also doesn't cause your blood sugar level to spike too quickly.
An important aspect of protein is that it's made up of what's called amino acids. There are actually 12 essential amino acids that the body is unable to produce by itself and has to acquire them from external food sources. The majority of people are deficient in certain amino acids. This is either because they simply don't consume enough, or that they don't eat foods that have high quality protein within them that the body can easily assimilate. Eggs and yogurt contain protein of high biological value. What this means is that we can use this type of protein much easier than other types. Another good source is whey protein powder.
If the foods that you eat regularly are low in nutrients and amino acids, your body will be hungry more often. This is because it needs to eat a lot to get those nutrients that it needs. If on the other hand, you started to eat nutrient-dense foods, the body will need less food and only need food when it needs calories for energy. This is actually one of the biggest reasons why people fail on crash or fad types of diets. They feel intense hunger when depriving their body from what it really needs.
It needs to be mentioned here that when cook protein, parts of it actually get transformed and destroys certain key amino acids. Protein is sensitive to heat, so it is a good idea to add a few raw protein sources to your current diet. These could include seeds, yogurt, nuts, fruit, some vegetables, whey and cheese that have not been cooked. This will provide you with all 12 of those essential amino acids that the body craves. It can then produce the other acids from the initial 12.
To also help preserve the muscle tissue in the body, you can do more exercise or weight training. If your body needs it's muscle for frequent motion, it will tend not to use them as fuel. It will begin using stores of fat to feed the muscles and cells in the body.

Nutritious food is the most effective way of getting splendid hair. Glossy, healthy hair is an indication of a healthy body. The kind of nutrition that body needs is also required by hair. Nutritious food makes amazing difference to the growth and conditioning of hair.
Water constitutes a quarter of the weight of a strand of hair. Moisture makes the hair supple and you have to ensure that you take plenty of fluids. You must remember that in order to drink water, you need not wait till you get thirsty. If you are thirsty, it means that your body has already lost more water than it should have replenished and it is asking you to drink water. Water hydrates your body and also keeps your hair smooth and shining. The ideal intake is eight to ten glasses of water every day.
Protein constitutes the building block of hair. Hence, a diet for healthy hair should consist of large quantities of protein. Protein gives strength to the hair shaft and reduces the likelihood of damage due to snapping and splitting of hair. Protein can be obtained from foods such as fish, meat, cereals, cheese and milk.
Among minerals, iron helps to carry oxygen to the hair. If enough iron is not available, hair and its follicles fall short of the oxygen. Iron level is increased by the intake of red meat and green vegetables or by iron supplements. Zinc improves hair protein, which prevents hair loss. Meat and seafood contain high levels of zinc. Copper is essential for the pigmentation of hair. Fresh vegetables, meat, nuts and seeds contain copper.
Vitamins are very essential for healthy hair. Vitamin A results in a healthy scalp and it is good for the skin. Vegetables contain vitamin A. Vitamins B and C are important for hair growth and hair color. They are available in fruit, vegetables, cereals, eggs, milk and bread. Other vitamins such as vitamin E, Biotin, Inositol, niacin (vitamin B3), Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 are also quite important for the healthy growth of hair. The following tips will be useful:

4. Do not overcook
5. High-stress levels will reduce

7. Aging affects the ability of our bodies to utilize certain nutrients
These measures will help you to a large extent in maintaining hair in good condition.

Eye Problems

Thursday, October 1, 2009 0 comments

Do you know what causes the most blindness in U.S. adults? It is an eye problem caused by diabetes, called diabetic retinopathy. Your retina is the light-sensitive tissue at the back of your eye. You need a healthy retina to see clearly.
Diabetic retinopathy happens when diabetes damages the tiny blood vessels inside your retina. You may not notice at first. Symptoms can include
* Blurry or double vision
* Rings, flashing lights or blank spots
* Dark or floating spots
* Pain or pressure in one or both of your eyes
* Trouble seeing things out of the corners of your eyes
If you have diabetes, you should have a complete eye exam every year. Finding and treating problems early may save your vision. Treatment often includes laser treatment or surgery. Diabetes .Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. With Type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With Type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood.
Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause serious problems. It can damage your eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even the need to remove a limb. Pregnant women can also get diabetes, called gestational diabetes.
Symptoms of Type 2 diabetes may include fatigue, thirst, weight loss, blurred vision and frequent urination. Some people have no symptoms. A blood test can show if you have diabetes. Exercise, weight control and sticking to your meal plan can help control your diabetes. You should also monitor your glucose level and take medicine if prescribed.

Try these yoga quick fixes for common lower-back pain

Even though lower-back pain may be a catch-all complaint, it's often the result of instability around the sacrum, the large, triangular bone made of five fused vertebrae at the base of the spine. The sacrum is wedged between the two hipbones and held together by two joints. Problems there are typically caused by stress, too much sitting, and over-arching of the lower back, says Gary Kraftsow, founder of the American Viniyoga Institute. The following exercises help stabilize the sacrum. As you practice the poses, engage your abdomen on the exhale in order to continuously tone your abs—and ultimately support your back.
Cat-cow sequence, variation
Begin on your hands and knees; shoulders should be directly over your wrists and hips directly over your knees. Inhale and slowly arch your back into cat pose (marjaryasana), lifting the chest up and away from the belly and extending your tailbone toward the ceiling. On the exhale round the back into cow pose (bitilasana), gently contracting the belly, then bring the chest down to rest on the thighs in child's pose (balasana). Repeat six times, increasing your range of motion.
Locust pose (salabhasana), variation
Lie on your belly with head turned to either side, resting comfortably. Place your palms on the mat alongside your chest with elbows bent, legs together. On the inhale simultaneously lift your head, chest, and legs up off the mat. Turn your head to center. Keeping your legs straight, open them several inches apart. Exhale, keeping your chest and legs up, and squeeze your legs back together engaging the inner-thigh muscles. Pause and hold for a moment, then return to the starting position. Repeat six times, widening the legs a little more each time.

Women Worry More About Weight

KANSAS CITY, MO - What matters more to women, their weight or their real physical condition?
"I've always been body conscious. As girls, we all grow up body conscious, right?" said Allison Harris.
A new survey by the Associated Press and i-Village finds half of women don't like their weight, while just a third don't like their physical condition.
A health and fitness director with the YMCA said fitness should be the greater concern.
"It's not just the body weight, what the scale says, what they look like. It's their blood pressure, it's their cardiovascular fitness, their strength," said Lauren Heyward with the Vivion Road Family YMCA.
Most of the women surveyed didn't get the recommended two-and-a-half hours of exercise a week. And, only eight percent downed the recommended five fruits and veggies a day. Both things can improve your physical condition.
"And, a side effect will be the weight loss, the healthy body image, the way you feel about yourself," said Heyward.
Heyward said we have to stop making skinny super models our role models.
"It's from cradle to grave. Every picture we see growing up. It's all about being thin and perfect looking," said Allison Harris.
Heyward said if you're looking for role models consider super athletes. How about 40-something swimmer Dara Torres!
"They may not be super super skinny and fit into that size two or zero, but they're fit," said Heyward.
The poll also found that 16% of normal-weight women are dieting.

Female Ejaculations

Are there female ejaculations?
Female ejaculation is a release of fluid from the external genitalia associated with sexual activity. Some say this fluid must be released under pressure, while others say it must be associated with the woman's orgasm. Whatever the definition used, female ejaculations are hard to find.
What Women Experience
There is very little research on this phenomenon. Not surprisingly, the more stringent the definition, the fewer the number of women who can be found to have experienced it. In one study, women were stimulated where the supposed G-spot is (on the vaginal wall closest to the stomach) and asked, immediately afterwards, if they experienced a spurt of fluid at orgasm. Only 6% said they did at the time. A total of 13% said they ever had. However, the existence of the G-spot itself is controversial, which consequently makes this view questionable, too.
If one loosens the definition to be a spurt of fluid at orgasm, without specifying stimulation of the alleged G-spot be involved, more women say "yes." However, these numbers may be inflated as these studies also differed by surveying women, instead of testing them directly. In other words, the researchers asked the women to remember their experiences throughout life, rather than having them have sex and report back to the researchers right away. The results of the two studies known varied greatly. One study reported only "a handful" of women experienced ejaculations, while another study showed 39.5% experienced the same. The exact words used in questioning the women may account for the differences. Yet another survey found about 40% of women said 'yes' when a release (as opposed to a spurt) of fluid at orgasm was the criteria.
What is it and where does it come from?
There is also controversy regarding the anatomical structures and the type of fluid that is expelled. Some investigators believe that the fluid originates from structures called the Skene's glands, which exits through the urethra (where urine comes out). Still others believe that the fluid comes from the bladder, and is, in fact urine. An alternate term is orgastic urination. Essentially, this is stress urinary incontinence due to orgasm.
On the other hand, some believe that the fluid is vaginal in origin. It is theorized when the vagina becomes narrowed from engorgement with blood during sexual excitement and then spasms due to orgasm, that this creates enough pressure to eject vaginal fluid.
What is it and where does it come from?
Fehat does it all mean?w women experience a phenomenon that closely resembles male ejaculation, although many report some kind of fluid release. What it is and where it comes from and why (or even if) women do it is still uncertain. If you think you experience it, you are not abnormal. And if you don't, you are not abnormal, either!

Women Body Building Diet

A good bodybuilding diet and nutrition are key components that will determine how successful you are in your bodybuilding program. Training without proper nutrition is like rowing against the current. At best, you would remain on the same place or even move forward a little bit, but in the end, you get nowhere.
A Definition of Diet
Usually people associate the word diet with days of starvation and pain. However that is not the correct definition of a diet. The word diet refers to the food choices that we make on a daily basis. Even if you don’t think you that you are on a diet, guess what?! You already are following a diet. Whether you eat candy all day everyday, or oatmeal, that is your diet.
You Don't Have to Starve When You Diet
A good bodybuilding diet needs to follow 3 rules:
1. It should favor smaller and frequent feedings throughout the day instead of smaller ones.
2. Every meal should have carbohydrates, protein and fat in the correct ratios: 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20 % good fats.
3. The calories should be cycled to prevent the metabolism from getting used to a certain caloric level.
While my article on Bodybuilding Nutrition Basics further elaborates on the reasons why the rules above need to be followed, in addition to a discussion on carbohydrates, proteins and fats, I'll move now to present you with two examples of good bodybuilding diets

The Signs and Symptoms of Early Pregnancy

Am I pregnant?" is probably the most common health question women ask. The signs and symptoms of early pregnancy are easy to recognize, particularly if this is not your first pregnancy. No matter how many times you get pregnant, the signs and symptoms of early pregnancy are the same. However, this does not mean that you will experience every pregnancy the same way. For example, during one pregnancy, you may experience incredible breast pain or nausea and vomiting, while during another pregnancy you might not experience these symptoms at all. The simple fact is that each pregnancy, just like each newborn, is different. So, don't count on having the same symptoms or the same intensity of symptoms during consecutive pregnancies.Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms
* Swollen, tender, or sore breasts and/ or nipples – Often this is the first physical sign of pregnancy. In fact, some women know when they are pregnant based on this sign alone. The reason breasts and/ or nipples are often sore, swollen, or tender during early pregnancy is because the breasts are undergoing changes to prepare for breastfeeding. The reason for this is the increased production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone that occurs and the breasts and/ or nipples are often particularly painful during a first pregnancy.
* Fatigue or unusual tiredness – Early pregnancy is time when a woman’s body is working very hard to keep up with the changes that occur. This means increased hormone production, as well as the fact that the heart is pumping harder and faster due to the escalation of blood flow – necessary to bring nutrients to the growing fetus. Increased progesterone production is the primary reason for the extra fatigue most pregnant women experience early in their pregnancy. Progesterone, known to cause sleepiness and a natural central nervous system depressant, is the reason this occurs. Another reason for fatigue and unusual tiredness during early pregnancy are the emotional extremes experienced often during pregnancy. It’s not uncommon for a pregnant woman to burst into tears for no apparent reason other than the hormonal fluctuations that occur during this time. This symptom is also a sign to get more sleep before your baby arrives when you’ll need your energy to care for your newborn baby.
* My Period is Late, Am I Pregnant? – The most common reason for missing your period is pregnancy and this is often the first sign that makes you suspect pregnancy. Only a pregnancy test followed by a pelvic exam, can tell you positively whether you are pregnant. Once your health care provider rules out pregnancy as the cause of your late or missed periods, the next step is usually to rule in or out several other possible explanations for absence of menstruation or amenorrhea.
* Light bleeding and/or cramping – The most common reason for light bleeding during early pregnancy is implantation. Implantation bleeding occurs when the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterine lining and usually occurs about 10 to 14 days after conception. Bleeding caused by implantation is very light, often the only sign you might notice that indicates implantation has occurred is a small (can be as small as a pinhead followed by no further bleeding) spot of blood left on your panties.
Cramping that is similar to menstrual cramps occurs very early during pregnancy and happens when the uterus begins to expand to make room for the embryo to develop into a fetus that continues to develop for a total of 40 weeks gestation when your baby is born.
* Morning sickness – Nausea during pregnancy can occur with or without vomiting. While morning sickness is most common between weeks four and eight during pregnancy, many women experience this symptom beginning about two weeks from their date of conception.
Morning sickness is a misnomer since it can, and often does, occur at anytime of the day or night. The most common reason for this symptom seems to be the rapid rise in estrogen, produced by the fetus and placenta. Another trigger for nausea is odors. During pregnancy, a woman’s sense of smell increases considerably and can make almost anything from everyday household odors, foods, perfume, and smoke, to name a few, trigger a bout of morning sickness or nausea and vomiting.
The most common foods to trigger morning sickness are coffee during the first weeks of pregnancy, meat, dairy products, and spicy foods. However, it’s essential to understand that literally anything can trigger nausea and/ or vomiting during pregnancy. In fact, I personally know someone who became nauseated during one of her pregnancies every time she passed a microwave in operation.
* Running to the bathroom – During the first trimester of pregnancy, it’s easy to believe you might have to “move” into your bathroom since it seems you are constantly running to make to the bathroom. The growing uterus causes frequent urination during pregnancy. The first and third trimesters of pregnancy are typically when the most intense frequent urination happens.

* To soothe tired eyes, dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on closed eyes for 10 minutes. Now relax completely.
* To completely relax the eyes and the surrounding muscles, close your eyes and think of something that is pleasant or soothing and at a distance. Now gently open your eyes and look into the distance. Next focus on an object at arm's length. Do this extremely relaxing exercise four or five times a day.
* If your eye twitches, or your eyes are red and feeling itchy, massage your scalp with curd.
* Soak 1 tsp. dry amla in one cup of water overnight. Next morning strain it through a muslin cloth and then add one extra cup of water. Splash your eyes with this solution each morning. This makes your eyes sparkle.
* For Puffy Eyes: Grate a potato with its peel and apply on your closed eyelids for about 20 minutes and relax completely. You may even take a nap.
* Wash your face before sleeping, and ensure that there is no make-up on your face before you sleep, because, make-up creams may spoil your face as it will be there for the whole night. It is better if no cream is applied. What I feel is, wash your face before sleeping and if at all you want to apply any cream, just apply night cream and none other than that.

Eye Safety at Home

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 0 comments

Believe it or not, the average home is full of dangers that often go unnoticed. In fact, accidents involving common household products cause 125,000 eye injuries each year.
Ninety percent of these eye injures can be prevented through understanding, safety practices and the use of proper eye protection.
You can reduce the risks of eye injuries for yourself and other family members by using this simple checklist for different areas of your home:
Indoor Safety
* Use safety gates at the top and bottom of stairs.
* Provide lights and handrails to improve safety on stairs.
* Pad or cushion sharp corners and edges of furnishing and home fixtures.
* Install cabinet and drawer locks in kitchens and bathrooms. * Store personal-use items (cosmetics, toiletry products), kitchen utensils, and desk supplies where they are out of reach for children.
Outdoor Safety
* Inspect and remove debris from lawns before mowing.
* Keep paints, pesticides, fertilizers, and similar products properly stored in a secure area.
* Keep your tools in good condition; damaged tools should be repaired or replaced.
* Wear safety glasses or dust goggles to protect against flying particles, and chemical goggles to guard against exposure to fertilizers and pesticides.
Chemical Safety
* Wear chemical safety goggles when using hazardous solvents and detergents.
* Read and follow all manufacturer instructions and warning labels.
* Do not mix cleaning agents.
* Know that regular eyeglasses don't always provide enough protection.
Kids' Safety
* Avoid toys with sharp or rigid points, shafts, spikes, rods, and dangerous edges.
* Keep toys intended for older children away from younger children.
* Avoid flying toys and projectile-firing toys; these pose a danger to all children, particularly those under five years old.
* Be aware of items in playgrounds and play areas that pose potential eye hazards.
* Keep BB guns away from kids.
* Use occupant restraints such as infant and child safety seats, booster seats, safety belts, and shoulder harnesses in cars.

How to Get the Best Haircut and Style

How to Get the Best Haircut and Style
Have you ever come home from the salon in tears because you feel that your hair was ruined, and worst of all -- you paid for it? It's probably happened to just about all of us at some time or another but you can prevent it in the future. On a quest to the most fabulous haircut and style just for you, here are important five steps to ensure you get just what you're looking for.
Choose a Reputable Stylist
Seek out others for referrals. Ask you friends with great-looking hair which salon they go to and the name of their stylist. More important, ask those who have similar hair texture, thickness and styles that you prefer. If you see a stranger whose hair you adore, don't be shy. Flatter that person with compliments and get the information you need. Most people are happy to share their stylist and can often get discounts for giving referrals.
Take Along Pictures
It's not always easy to describe what haircut and style you want. Your description may bring up something completely different in the stylist's mind, leading to a bad cut that can take months or even years to recover from.
Salons are full of magazines and styling guides for a reason. If you bring along a picture from home or select one from an in-house pictorial, you're more likely to get just what you want. Be reasonable. Not all cuts and styles may work with your hair texture and some can accentuate facial flaws. The best insurance is to bring along a few pictures and ask the professional for advice.
Be Precise
If you want your long hair to stay long, say just that. If you just want a trim, tell him or her how much hair you want cut and make a show with your fingers. Don't be reluctant to interrupt while your hair is being cut. If you just sit there, knowing you're on the wrong track, you'll kick yourself later on. A stylist who asks plenty of questions about how you want your hair to look is one that wants to make sure that you walk out happy.
Hair styling - Watch Closely
Don't get into heavy chatting and then discover that you have no idea how to achieve that fantastic look. A great hairstyle is one you'll want to replicate over and over so it's important to watch carefully and see how it's done. Again, ask questions and you can pick up some good tips for manipulating your hair into the style that's just perfect for you.
Be Decisive
There are times when you're just not happy with the cut. If you are aware of this before you leave the salon, make it known. If the salon is not busy, this may be able to be corrected then and there. If you feel rushed, tell the stylist and let him or her know that you may be in touch soon. If you discover that the haircut is not to your liking after you get home, make another appointment to follow up. After all, you wanted to look better, right? The best way to do this is communicate with the professional.

Let it grow.long hair

My experience with short hair came very suddenly when I was about 8. Before then I had very long, thick, and wavy hair that my mom insisted on fixing every day. I would sit facing the tank of the toilet so I could hold on to it. I know this sounds a little crazy but without holding on for dear life I would have ended up on the floor. I swear that my mom secretly lifted weights and worked out just so she could get my ponytails and French braids in nice and tight. And, as you can imagine from an 8 year old, the screams ensued.
On one particularly noisy morning I was warned that if I screamed one more time, we would be going to the salon to get my hair all cut off. Just as soon as my mom finished with that phrase, out came a scream. So off we went to the salon and I came home with chin length hair. From there it just went shorter and shorter.
Since that day 20 some odd years ago, I have been officially "growing my hair out". The longest it has gotten is about shoulder length and the shortest is about 1 ½ inches all over with razor lines cut into designs across the back (hey, it was the eighties!). So I can honestly say that I have a huge amount of experience in growing out hair. Take it from me, it is not easy.
Sure, growing hair in general is easy. Hair grows on average about ½ inch every month. Nutrition and health play a great deal in how fast or slow your locks actually grow. If you are lucky enough to be taking prenatal vitamins, watch out, your hair and nails will grow faster than you may be ready for. When I was pregnant I had my hair cut at least every 4 weeks just to maintain some sort of hairstyle. If you have very poor nutrition your hair may still grow but it may be much weaker than normal healthy hair, possibly breaking off very easily.
long bangs - hair over face We've already determined that proper nutrition is important to growing your do out, the second step is patience. Lots and lots of patience. This is the step that has returned me to the salon time and time again. Just as soon as my hair gets to that "ugly" stage I run and get it trimmed. So how do you overcome that stage and make it through? First of all, have a goal in mind and not just a finished goal but intermediate ones as well. If your mind is set only on having those long, wavy, flowing styles you may lose your way when things start getting tough.
Just as a baby goes through many physical milestones before she finally takes those first wobbly steps, your hairstyle will also have to reach several milestones. Go to the grocery store or the nearest newsstand and pick up a couple of hair magazines. Find several styles that will look good with your hair texture and face shape. Choose one that is about 2 inches longer than what your style is now, take the picture with you the next time you go to your stylist. Even if your hair is not yet that length your stylist can give you a cut that can gracefully grow into your desired style. Keep doing that each time you reach your goal length and before long, you'll be there.
Now, just because you are trying to make your hair longer it does not mean that you should no longer get it cut until it is flowing to your waist. Regular trims are the key. Without them, styles can quickly get overgrown and out of control. Maintain a style and you will at least look good between your pixie cut and your vixen look. Be sure to get a style with a lot of texture, that way if it starts to get a little shaggy you won't look like a shi tzu dog who hasn't been groomed for 2 months.
Don't expect those long locks to be flowing immediately after you declare your intentions to grow, unless you have the bucks to pay for extensions! It takes time, lots and lots of time and patience. Eat well, trim well and grow well. Short hair can be beautiful but it is not for everyone, so if you realize on your way home from the salon that you are NOT Halle Berry, have no fear-let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!

In the age of today, obesity struck many kids and teenagers alike. Due to the fact that there is no constant activity done by kids and teenagers, with this present situation, one should ask Why is physical fitness important for teens.
In general, fitness is defined as the peak functioning or performance of muscles, lungs, and the heart of a person. With the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Sport Medicine and School Health, physical fitness is determined through the persons flexibility, muscle strength, cardio respiratory endurance, and body composition or the degree of fatness. In order to achieve physical fitness then, we need to develop these four fitness components. Since fitness is not focused on merely muscle strength or endurance, the best exercise to do then is an Aerobic exercise since it addresses all the major components.
In fact, due the fact that most teens are overweight because of bad diets and little to no exercise. If they fix there diet and do any sort of aerobic exercise they will begin to rapidly to lose weight. The key for teen weight loss therefore is self motivation.
The treatment of gynecomastia begins with the proper diet. If you tend to eat a lot of junk, it is a good idea to cut back and what better motivation to get healthy than the prospect of finally getting rid of your man boobs. Try to eat healthier food, such as fruits and vegetables. Avoid dishes that are rich in fat and calories since they promote deposition of fat in various areas of your body, including your breasts.
Most teens might not have the money to join a fitness club but what you can do is take part in activities that happen in school. This will give you at least enough opportunity to exercise each part of the body. Sports come in various choices when it comes to activities; i.e., soccer, softball, tennis, athletics and more.
Teens are in a period of their life where they are experiencing constant natural changes in their bodies. You can't just tell a teen to eat less and expect them to lose weight healthily. They need a well balanced diet which makes it very difficult for them to lose any weight with most dieting plans.
Eat Slowly And Calmly
Everyone loves to eat but eating fast is not the proper way of eating the Digestive system will not tell your brain that you have eaten enough. Eating slowly helps your body digestion of food.
Healthy foods can also be prepared ahead of time and frozen for later use. You can prepare your own frozen foods, but make sure that you don't load with artificial additives and preservatives. And involving your children in the preparation of healthy foods can create a time when each other can share about their day. Eating healthy foods do not have to cost you time or money, and they are so much better for you.
Exercise also benefits you mentally. When you're fit, it affects the way you feel. You have a lot more energy, and you sleep better at night. You can concentrate better so your memory improves and because of that you feel more confident in school. Fitness gives you a real sense of accomplishment and being in control. After all, nobody can get fit for you.

Resolve Conflicts at Work
Conflicts at work can be stressful and counterproductive for everyone involved. Learn to confront the other person and resolve the situation:
Decide whether you want to confront the person who is bothering you. It is usually better to air grievances in the open than to let them fester.
Speak to the other person calmly, politely and rationally. Focus on the situation and facts, avoiding gossip and personal attacks.
Be careful not to express hostility in your posture, facial expression or tone. Be assertive without being aggressive.
Listen to the other person carefully: What is he or she trying to say? Be sure you understand his or her position.
Express interest in the other person's statements. You can acknowledge his or her ideas without necessarily agreeing or submitting. Saying, "I understand that you feel this way. Here's how I feel," provides the needed acknowledgment.
Communicate clearly what it is that you want, offering positive suggestions and recommendations.
Speak to your supervisor if a problem with a difficult co-worker seriously threatens your work - but avoid whining.
Oh and...:
Deal with problematic personalities by trying to understand what motivates their behavior, then tailoring your actions to work with that personality type. Once you grasp why people behave as they do, you will be able to interact with them more effectively. For example, be firm with bullies at work - don't allow them to pressure you into doing anything unwanted, and be forceful in your opinions, but act with a bit of caution.
Around complainers, avoid. acting too sympathetic if you feel their complaints are weakly supported; instead, ask what sorts of actions they plan to take to change the situation. Squarely ask them what it is they want.

Cool Makeup Tips During Summer

The kiss of summer bestows nature's shining secret to your face as long as you do not let it dry your skin and cause those tiny summer wrinkles to appear. Try some of the suggestions given below to revive and to sustain the natural beauty of your complexion and to add that cool, clear appearance, which is the main asset of a summer complexion.

During the hot summer months your complexion needs extra care at night in order to counteract the drying effects of the sun and the wind during the day. Particularly, if you are above 25 you should regularly use a moisturizing cream at bedtime. Apply this cream daily in the night if you want to cherish the youthful loveliness of a flawless complexion.

To make your own moisturizing cream take four almonds and soak them in enough milk to cover them. Let them remain thus for a whole night, next morning peel and grind them to a smooth paste. Now mix in two tablespoons of milk cream and a few drops of essence of rose. Store in a bottle and keep it in the fridge.

As the temperature rises in the hot months, extra cleaning is necessary for those of you who have greasy complexion. Bathe your face four to five times daily with clear water and a good soap suited to your complexion. This will help cleanse the openings of grease glands and loosen excess secretion. Rinse off every trace of soap with plenty of hot, then cold water. Cold water constricts the pores and minimizes the entrance of dust and dirt into the oil glands. Now splash an astringent lotion on the face. In a bowl of chilled water squeeze in a juice of a sour lime. Pat dry. Remember to cleanse the skin thoroughly with milk cream blended into a thin paste with gram flour. Steam the face once every week in order to open clogged pores.

Another big problem of summer is excessive perspiration and body odour. Excessive perspiration usually occurs on the palms, soles, under the breast, forehead and scalp. It is often accompanied by offensive body odour which is largely due to the decomposition of sweat and contamination with micro-organisms. Under unclean circumstances, micro-organisms flourish giving rise to unsightly boils. Therefore, if you suffer from foulsmelling perspiration, you should pay special attention to your personal cleanliness. You should take bath twice daily with soap and plenty of water. Certain areas of the body (where perspiration is excessive) should be dusted liberally with boric powder mixed with an equal quantity of a good-scented talcum powder. If your feet perspire profusely then use salicylic powder on them or you can soak them for 15 minutes in a dilute solution of potassium permanganate in order to prevent infection and minimise 'body odour. Refrain from wearing nylon or woollen socks. Wear cotton socks and shoes which have no rubber soles on them. To check pespiration of the hands wash them well, dry them, then rub them with a few drops of witch-hazel.

Infants and toddlers should be bathed in the afternoon in water to which a few drops of Cologne have been added. Dust their bodies libearlly with equal quantity of scented powder and boric powder. For top-to-toe freshness pay proper attention to your hair. It is important that you should wash your hair at least twice a week. Freshen your hair in between by sprinkling some eau de Cologne before setti ng them. Revive tired eyes by wrapping crushed pieces of ice in a piece of cloth and applying it to closed eyelids. Then relax for 10 minutes in a dark room. You can use cucumber slices instead of ice cubes.

Ensure that feeling of freshness by keeping yourself and all your personal belongings, scrupulously clean. Your dresses and other clothes should be starched and well-pressed for a neat appearance. Keep pads soaked in cologne between your clothes and they will exude a lovely fragrance. When ironing your clothes, place a pad of cotton soaked- in either Cologne rose water or your favourite perfume by your side and run the pad on your clothes before ironing. Your pleasantly fragant clothes will make you feel cool and garden-fresh. Do away with all your nylons, georgettes and heavy silks and bring out the soft wispy chanderies, cool violes, crisp organdies and light cotton dresses in the softest of shades. Avoid wearing too many accessories.

During this season your makeup should be reduced to the minimum and the accent should be on naturalness. Avoid using foundation creams and lotions of any sort because heat may cause them 'running down' your face. Use a lipstick of pastel shade and use rouge sparingly. Finish your makeup with a light puff of powder.

Be extravagant with flowers. Use plenty of them in your hair. You can also tuck a few flowers of mogra in your bra for their heavenly smell. Spray on your favourite perfume and now if you go out you will feel as pleasantly fresh and cool as though you were atop a hill station in the summer season.
